2nd Community Conversation:
What are our Dreams for our Children?
     

         The 2nd Community Conversation: What are our Dreams for our Children? Will be held Saturday, July 9 from 1 to 3 pm at Victory Outreach Church, 3839 Wabash St.

     The National Conference of Artists-MI Chapter will hold their 20th annual fundraiser art auction on Saturday, July 9 at the George N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art from 6 pm to 9 pm. Outstanding works of members from the National Conference of Artists will be featured. The Carr Center

The Carr Center, located at 311 Grand River, will host acting classes taught by Gary Anderson of Plowshares Theatre at noon. Participants must be 18 and older. For more details, call 313-506-2858.

Free airplane rides

The Tuskegee Airmen is offering free airplane rides to children ages 8 to 17 on Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Airport (City Airport) Main Terminal - Tower Side, Connor St. near Gratiot Ave. Det. MI 48213. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Detroit River Walk

     The RiverWalk, one of downtown Detroit's largest revitalization efforts, features green spaces and pedestrian promenades running along the Detroit River from Joe Louis Arena to the Belle Isle Bridge.

     Families can walk, jog, bike, or blade along the nearly three miles of transformed riverfront, enjoy fantastic views of the water and downtown Windsor, cool off at several water features, and take a few spins around the Cullen Family Carousel that features animal species native to the Detroit River.

E.L. Johnson Nature Center

     The E.L. Johnson Nature Center, 3325 Franklin in Bloomfield Hills, offers school children and community members a 40-acre natural area with more than two miles of wood chipped trails, a Visitor Center, an authentic 1800s homestead, outdoor amphitheater, and picnic areas. This is free and open to the public. Call 248.341.6485, for additional information. The center is open 7 days. Donations welcomed. Nature-themed birthday parties are available.
